Mission Statement
The mission of the Hamtramck Police Department is to enhance the quality of life in the City of Hamtramck by working in partnership with the community to enforce the law, preserve peace, protect the people, reduce fear, and maintain order.

The Hamtramck Police Department strives to foster a safe and fair City by incorporating Community Policing into all facets of Department operations, and solve the problems that create crime and disorder through an interdependent relationship between the people and its police, and by pioneering strategic innovation.

The City of Hamtramck contracts with the Michigan Humane Society for all its animal needs. If you have lost a pet and the Police Department has picked it up, first, check with the Michigan Humane Society at its Detroit, Westland and Rochester Hills facilities.
If you have not located your pet here, don’t stop looking. Also check with all local animal care facilities, veterinary offices, social media, ask your neighbors, and keep checking.
