The City of Hamtramck Downtown Development Authority supports people, projects, and partnerships that further the economic growth and stability of a thriving Hamtramck. The DDA consists of two subcommittees: 1) Economic Vitality & Design and 2) Organization and Promotion.
The authority shall be under the supervision and control of a Board of Directors consisting of the Mayor of the city and not less than eight nor more than 12 members appointed by the Mayor, subject to approval by the City Council. Not less than a majority of the members shall be persons having an interest in property in the downtown district. At least one director shall be a resident of the downtown district, if the downtown district has 100 or more persons residing within it. The terms of the directors shall be for four years with terms beginning July 1 and ending June 30 or upon the appointment of a successor.

Dates & Times
Beginning in September 2023, the DDA Board of Directors will be meeting on the third Wednesday of each month at 6:05pm on the third floor of City Hall (3401 Evaline). The meetings were previously on Thursdays. Meetings are open to the public.
The mission of the Economic Vitality and Design Committee is to promote, encourage, and facilitate the development of responsible and properly planned business growth within the community in order to expand and strengthen the local economy and improve the quality of life enjoyed by locals and visitors.
One main purpose of the committee is to oversee the Downtown Sign and Façade Improvement Grant Program. We are currently seeking grants to restart this program.
The mission is to ensure all stakeholders are working towards a shared vision while generating activity and fostering community pride to create a positive image of Hamtramck. For meeting agendas and minutes, see below.
